AM I MENTALLY EQUIPPED TO BUILD A PROFITABLE BUSINESS?

Most times, the frustrating truth about starting a new business is that the process can be emotionally demanding. The dark truth is, about a whooping percentage out of a hundred businesses liquidate every year.

When you check out the estimates, one of the likely reasons (apart from the problem of cash flow) can be that the founder (or partners) was (or were) not mentally fit to deal with difficulties in the business.

It only had to take an unsettling of the weather somewhere to get them more downtrodden than was necessary.

As a start up, you need to prepare your mind to meet challenges on the way. One smart understanding you must master is not only knowing how to overcome these huddles but also to gain from them. Another blog letter buttresses on how to go about that.

DO I HAVE A CORRECT GROWTH SYSTEM?

This is where the stakes begin to rise, and no, this is not one of my ‘creatively coined’ stunts!

What really is a correct growth system and how can it be wrong?

In simple terms, a Growth System is a systematic approach for your business’ overall development to a stable profitable authority.

It involves the whole process you’re willing to put in to develop what you already know, find out what you need to know and effectively utilise what you have already mastered.

A correct growth system should cover, not only the details about how your business would take off, but also how it will last.

It should involve strategies to maintain a balanced business approach, mental stability, growing your brand identity with a customer need sensitivity, etc.
A correct growth system tells you when to decide about the next step in your business from just a quick study of the environmental changes.

It should guide you on how to recapture your best productivity approach for an accelerated demand response.

For any business to thrive, a correct growth system needs to be put in place.

CAN I IDENTIFY A SUBTLE OPPORTUNITY WHEN I SEE ONE AS AN INNOVATIVE START UP?

It is totally normal to identify an opportunity when you see one. However, it’s a different ball game entirely when you have to pick out a subtle kind?! That can be a breath-taking process.

From Dr John S. Pemberton’s curious discovery of Coca cola, to Leonard Bosack founding CISCO for better communication with his wife, the idea of a subtle opportunity is as old as time itself.

In fact, King Camp Gillette would not have founded GILLETTE if he was not a pro at identifying subtle opportunities. He practically turned discarded pastic into a profitable 19+ years business.

Also, to keep pace with the demands from your business, it’s expedient you know when to check out for “what’s talking behind the scene”, even when others don’t see it.

Jumping back to Camp Gillette, companies didn’t see discarded plastic back then as something that could be recycled into a profitable business. However, he did.

DO I KNOW HOW TO EFFECTIVELY DEFINE WHAT YES AND NO MEANS TO ME AND MY BUSINESS?

Our very own Steve Jobs says, and I quote, “I’m actually as proud of the things we have done than what I haven’t done. Innovation is saying NO to 1,000 things.

Your own definition of YES and NO is what can distinct you from the average guy out there who isn’t moving a finger.

According to Steve Jobs (and you should take it up too), YES should mean, “this is good, we can surely do better” and NO could as well mean, “looks like another innovative door is around the corner”.

It could look like something else, but it should not look like a colossal contrast if you want your business starting out on the right foot.

Which leads us to the fifth of these unique questions for every innovative start up.

CAN I SIT PATIENTLY WITH THE PROCESS IT WILL TAKE TO GROW MY BUSINESS?

Again, Steve Jobs gives us another insightful quote I personally adore.

“My most favourite things in life don’t cost any money. It’s really clear that the most precious resource we all have is time.”

Steve Jobs

It could take a long time to build your business depending on your plan for it. You could even segregate them into short and long-term goals depending on what works best for you in the long run.

Each business niche has its own peculiarity.

For example, you won’t expect to suddenly blow out in two months as a food brand (except you have been a quiet underground developer). Apart from internal issues, environmental conditions could be a restraining factor as well.

One question you MUST ask yourself as you plan to start your business is if you can be patient enough to sit through the process.

WILL I BE DESTROYED IF MY BUSINESS LIQUIDATES IN THE FUTURE?

Ok, this doesn’t look like a pleasurable topic. I mean, this site is all about making you the best fit for your business’ stability while helping you develop your emotional and mental stability / capacity.

Don’t crucify me just yet. The essence of this question is not to deflate your determination to succeed or worse, discourage your resolve.

You see, the awareness of this question at the back of your mind has a series of benefits you should not overlook.

Two unique features of these benefits are:

Ability to integrate a system to look back to as a reminder when your feet threatens to get lazy
The knowledge that you need to learn more to be equipped for both your business and perspective toward customer relationship

This is one stand-out question from our list of unique questions for every start up you really should start asking yourself.

WILL I BE ABLE TO HIRE MYSELF (OR SELL MY BUSINESS) TEN YEARS FROM NOW FOR TRIPLE MY FIRST OUTSTANDING PROFIT?

I bet this was one question many top brand owners today were able to answer.

For your profitable business to deliver, you must be able to answer this superior question.

As days will go by, your little business will accord different outstanding results. You’ll have to increase your price, change locations, rebrand, restructure, all depending on customer’s (or client’s) response to what you have to offer.

The earlier you get it right pitcher, the more profitable you can be in your business.

DO I HAVE AN INNOVATIVE SOLUTION BANK?

Largely, your target result in comprehensively mastering your brand is to enable a system where everything effectively works for you. As a start-up, one bank you must set up to run non-stop is an innovative bank.

This bank should be an instant go-to when a problem rises in the spur of a moment. It could be part of your growth system, but I advise you have a special place for it for easy reference.

Your innovative bank can be a valuable item, a technique, a success ingredient, your special recipe, a person, etc. The list can be endless. Just make sure you have things in a trackable place, and you’ll be just fine.
